Metal working has long been an intriguing part of our human development. Cao led a metal forming review article [Cao and Banu 2020] titled “Opportunities and Challenges in Metal Forming for Lightweighting: Review and Future Work” in ASME Journal of Manufacturing Science and Engineering honoring the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Manufacturing Engineering Division of ASME. We have performed research projects on topics shown in the boxes illustrated below to advance our understanding and modeling of metal forming processes and to innovate forming processes in the framework of cyber-physical systems.
